George Edward Beck Friday June 25th 2021 avis de deces

It is with deep sadness that the family of the late GEORGE EDWARD BECK of St. Lawrence, NL, announces his passing on June 25, 2021 at the age of 85, after a brief hospitalization.
George loved his family deeply and is survived by his children; George (Lisa) Brampton, ON; Wayne, St. Lawrence, NF; Diane Beck-Loewe (Peter), Burnaby, BC; Ronald, French River, ON; James (Carrie), Brampton, ON; Glenn, St. John’s, NF; 11 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren. George came from a large loving family with beloved brothers Eric (Diana), Earl (Stella), Owen, Sam (Christine), Arnold (Christine), and sisters he adored, Addie Hatcher, & Viola Beck-Heisler; his cherished in-laws, the Turpin clan, nieces and nephews, and many friends who were counted as family.
George was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Catherine (Kay), son Eric, his parents, Chesley and Eliza Beck, and parents-in-law, Alfred & Charlotte Turpin, brother, Chesley Jr.
George was a gentle man, with a large footprint, leading many to follow he and Kay to Ontario in their younger years. There was always room at his table, room in his home and room in his heart for anyone that needed it. Sometimes this generosity resulted in a few love matches and marriages as well! He was a happy man who valued family above everything else, always finding the silver lining, and making things joyful. He worked extremely hard, overcoming steep hurdles, not only surviving but thriving. He gave so much of himself, not only as the family patriarch, but to his friends and the community, be it as a hockey coach, a fundraiser, a mentor, or a leader. He was also able to take and follow directions very well, being dragged into all sorts of event fundraising, dances and party planning, with Kay at the helm. He simply never stopped moving.
George was a humble man, yet so proud of his children, always supporting them and finding the time to be with them. It was such a joy to see the sheer delight he found in his grandchildren and great grandchildren – he was the best baby rocker! George was always the last to speak, because he was interested in listening to what you had to say first. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke you listened, because he was a wise man, with wisdom far beyond any piece of paper. We will miss him deeply, but we take comfort that he will be happy to be reunited with his beloved Kay and we know that he will continue to watch over us as we continue to love and remember him.
In accordance with George’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will be accepting visitors at St. Matthews Anglican Church on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Followed by a funeral service at St. Matthews Anglican Church on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 11:00am. Working within health guidelines and travel restrictions, it is important to the family to gather together to share in their memories.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Burin Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion given to George recently. We would also like to thank our cherished brother Wayne who has devoted the last several years to our father, giving him love and support and making memories for us all to treasure.
