ROSS , Gean Carroll
Passed away February 2. Born in Lockeport in 1933, to parents the late Clare and Eva Redding. She graduated from Lockeport High School and Saint John Vocational (Cosmetology). She worked at Royal Bank of Canada, Lockeport; Nova Scotia light & Power; Halifax Relief Commission, and Pleasant Street Medical Group. She was the last living person to have been employed at the Halifax Relief Commission.
She is survived by brother Grant (Susan) Redding, sister-in-law Vivian Redding, nephews Raymond and Sterling Rhuland, Robert Redding, Shelburne and Alan Redding, Cranbrook, B.C. She is also survived by step daughter-in-law Luanne Ross, Tatamagouche, step grandson Jodi (Jody) Ross, and daughters, Courtney and Kailey, West Chezzetcook, Kelsey Jean, Trenton ON and step grandson Lyle (Brandi) Ross, their son Levi, Tatamagouche. She was also Special Nan to Andrew Murphy, Toronto and Craig (Yvonne) Murphy, Moncton NB and children Gabriel, Caelen, Carissa and William. She is also survived by special niece Shirley Walker and special friends Sharon MacLeod and Delores Delaney. She was predeceased by her parents Clare and Eva Redding, Lockeport, husband, Gordon Ross, brother Gordon Redding, sister Mary (Sis) Cox, stepson Rodney Ross., brothers-in-law George Rhuland and George Cox, great step grand-daughter Willow.
Her married life was lived at 3115 Robie St., Halifax where many people had the privilege of visiting for whatever time they wanted. The door was open – you may have been one of the key holders – there were 20 -25 out at all times. Seven years after Gordon’s passing she moved to Dartmouth where she lived until 2010 when she moved to Shelburne. She was a member of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Dartmouth where she was an elder and was very active – her most passionate being involved in dinner theatre and prison ministry. She also enjoyed playing for church services for many years at Veteran’s Hospital and Oceanview Manor. Services in Shelburne and Dartmouth to be held at a later date. Donations in her memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
