It is with very heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Frederick Arthur Barrett on August 24th, 2021 at his home in Lindsay, Ontario. Fred was born in Fenelon Falls in 1942 to his parents, Margaret and Arthur Barrett. Fred was the loving husband of Margaret (née Leach) for 57 years, the father of Shawn (Leslie), Scott (Hansol) and adored grandfather of Cameron and Amber. Fred will be sadly missed by sister in-law Marilyn (Ron), Vicki (the late Jim), nieces Terry and Tracey and their families. Fred’s close cousins Lloyd (Lynn), Ron (Wendy), Bonnie (Merrill) and many others will never forget the time spent together as a family. Fred had many great friends including: Frank and Mary Lou, Carl and Mary (predeceased), Don and Lois (predeceased), John and Frona Mary, Marilyn and Glen, Sharon and George, Lynda and Morley (predeceased) as well as Charlene and Neil (predeceased). Together they had so many great memories. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing darts and cards, loved animals, roses and cooking shows. Without a doubt Fred’s greatest enjoyment were his boys and the grandchildren. Fred worked hard throughout his life; he started at Sturgeon Woodproducts then to GM, then an apprenticeship as an Electrician, worked with Charlie Ford then to Ethicon Sutures in Peterborough. Fred spent 15 years at Union Carbide and worked for his son at Promus, which he thoroughly enjoyed until he had to give it up due to health issues. At Fred’s request, cremation has taken place and due to COVID restrictions an invitation-only Celebration of life was held August 28th and private burial at Riverside Cemetery in Lindsay. Donations can be made in Fred’s honour to Kawartha Lakes Humane Society or a local charity of your choice. Our sincere thanks to Fred’s doctors M. Chayer and J. Jones, and the staff at Ross Memorial Hospital. Thank you to the nursing care provided by Ricki, along with Stephanie and Lynn (PSW’s) as well as the medical services in the community that made Fred as comfortable as possible.
