Florence Whitten
March 31, 1930 – June 18, 2021
Passed peacefully away on June 18, 2021 in St. John’s at the HSC, surrounded by family and friends, Florence Avalon Whitten (Dooley) age 91 years. Leaving a lifetime of cherished memories for loving Husband Douglas and Son Kerry (Cheryl) and Grandchildren Nicholas (Madi) and Kera. She leaves behind a wide circle of loving family members: sister Rosemary Schembri (Joe) and family including Tina (Mario), children Jeremy and Anthony; Chris (Robert) children Julianne and Laura; Beverly (Pierre Luc) Luca, Clara, and Gabriella; special niece Flora Cohen (Steven) and family including Jessica, Tamara, Courtney (Matt) and Jake; and special niece Rhonda Dooley-Clancey and family including Alona (Valerie), Scott, Lux and Dax. Brother in law Reg Whitten and family Joy (Phil), Jan (Dan), & Jody (Tim); Sisters in law Carol Dooley and family Cindy (Dean), Audrey Dooley and family Wayne (Jerry), Debbie (Gary), Sandra (Harry), Judy (Steve), Darryl (Irene), Glen (Tracy), Rick (Gina); Shirley Parsons, Melva Whitten and family Rick (Kim), Doug (Janet), Debbie (Todd) & Paul (Michelle); and special thanks to George Gollop for his daily calls. Predeceased by mother Flora, father Ronald, Dooley brothers John, Gordon, Gerald, Leonard, Ronald, and Alan, as well as brother-in-law David Whitten, sister-in-law Joyce Whitten and special childhood friend Theresa Smith.
The family would like to thank the Dialysis team at Mount Pearl Square, the Health Sciences Centre Dialysis team and the 4 South A medical team, as well as her community health care team who have cared for her over the past three years.
Visitation will be held at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Sunday, June 20th, 2021 from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Caul’s chapel on Monday, June 21st, 2021 at 2p.m. For those unable to attend the funeral service in person due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service can be livestreamed online here. Interment will take place following the funeral at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or Heart & Stroke Foundation in her memory.
