Florence (Florrie) Mae Patey
August 16, 1926 – June 20, 2021
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing at Cozy Quarters, Clarenville, of Florence (Florrie) May Patey, age 94 , from Elliott’s Cove on June 20, 2021. Predeceased by her parents, Abner and Lily Pearl Simmons; husband , George; daughter, Margaret; siblings, Ralph (Clemmie), Jim (Harold) (Edna), Wilfred, Jean (Cecil), Bertha (Kevin),Lilah (George); sister- in-law, Delphine and brother-in-law, William; and step son, Doug Butler. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are her children, Melvin (Geraldine), Freeman (Vera) and Robert (Carolyn); best friend, Doug Gillingham; grandchildren, Sandy (Ken), David (Deidre), Tammy (Tony), Stephen (Nicole), Junior, Crystal (Shawn), Leanne (Jordan); Jordan (Amber) and Michael; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Reginald (Una); sister, Elsie; sister-in-law, Wanda; many nieces, nephews, family friends Lorna Baker and Margie Hart, as well as many other family and friends.
Florrie and George devoted over 50 years of marital bliss and later Florrie met Doug Gillingham whom she spent over 25 years with . Together they built a sturdy relationship, covering many miles . They never stopped, whether it be at the local Lions Club or attending funerals. Where you saw one, you saw the other.
Florrie enjoyed story telling to her grandchildren; a hoarder when it came to newspaper clippings; avid knitter; lifetime member of the UCW- just to name a few of the many characteristics of a well known community individual. She will be sadly missed.
Visitation will take place at Central United Church, Elliott’s Cove by invitation on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 7 pm.
Funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 24, 2012 at 2 pm with internment following at the Interdenominational cemetery, Elliott’s Cove .
