MacLENNAN, A. Fisher
Bay View
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew Fisher MacLennan, 83, of Bayview at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on December 16, 2021. Born in Millsville on June 8, 1938, he was a son of the late Fisher and Ellen (McCara) MacLennan and the youngest of a family of eight children. Fisher retired in 2000 from Scotsburn Co-operative Services Ltd. after 43 years of loyal and dedicated service, having proudly established Scotsburn’s bulk petroleum distribution business, helping it to grow to one of the largest in Pictou County at the time of his retirement. His last role was as Branch Manager of Scotsburn, where he was responsible for the Butter Plant, Feed Mill, Bulk Fuel and Hardware Store. He gained a great deal of respect from his employees and co-workers over the years. He was a loving husband to his wife Lynn (Sutherland), for 58 years spending most of their life in Scotsburn where they raised their three children, David (Brenda), Cheryl Galvin (Martin) and Paul (Jennifer). The couple enjoyed many years together, traveling to various locations, Florida being an annual favourite for many years. They particularly loved their trips to visit their daughter and her family throughout Canada, the States and Germany. He had been active in his community, volunteering on the Bethel Church Board of Managers and assisted with various community events over the years. Following his retirement, the couple moved back to Bay View, close to the family farm where he had spent many of his younger years. He spent his time taking great care of his property, gardens and enjoying many a laugh over card games with his family. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his seven grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Galvin, Ashley (Matt) Duda, Nigel and Riley MacLennan, Shelby, Tyler, and Justin MacLennan. He also had two great-grandchildren, Clayton Duda and Aston Galvin whom he unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet due to COVID. Remaining living siblings include John (Ann) MacLennan and Sue Miller and several nieces and nephews. Fisher was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Lloyd, Marjorie Jenkins, Mary Campbell, Kathryn McCulloch, and Julia Hope. There will be no visitation to help limit the spread of COVID-19. A private family funeral will be held at 1 pm AST, Sunday, December 19th from McLaren Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment in Bethel Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. The funeral will be live streamed; details on sympathy messages and live streamed link are available at www. mclarenfuneral.ca.
