Ervine Garnet Johnston born January 21, 1942 died peacefully at home in Sherwood Park, Alberta on February 20, 2021 at the age of 79 years old.
Ervine’s passions were faith, family, friends and farm. He was an active member of the Parkland Bible Church and a Board Member of Kenosee Lake Bible Camp for around 40 years as well as a Councillor for the RM of Silverwood.
Ervine grew up in Langbank, Saskatchewan, the 6th of 7 children. As a child he enjoyed riding his horse to Uncle Wills after the chores were done and many shenanigans with friends over the years. Ervine took over the family farm from his father and was proud that the farm had reached Centennial status and celebrated with family and friends. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke he was highly regarded. He loved to tease his grandchildren to get a giggle or a laugh from them.
Ervine was predeceased by his first wife of 54 years, Marilyn Anna (Broughton) and his son Ervine Craig, his parents, Jessie and Ervine and his brothers, Don, Patrick and Bob.
Ervine leaves behind to mourn him, his wife, Violet Johnston, and his children: Craig; Karl (Mashal); Cheryl (Kelly); Tracy, (Scott); Esther (Greg); and his Grandchildren: Tyler (Julie), Megan, Matthew, Sharissa (Garret), Sam, Joel, Cassandra, Jordyn and Dylan as well as his Great Grandchildren: Crosby, Micah, Sebastian and Hayes, his sister’s Doreen and Eva and brother Leslie and their families as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins and in-laws.
Ervine also leaves behinds his step children: Shannon (Russell); Dawn (Joseph) and their families.
Thank you to those who prayed and showed us much kindness, love and support during this difficult period. We would especially like to thank Dr. Trent Dusang and the Palliative Care Team for their excellent care at home.
A Memorial will be held at a later date in Saskatchewan.
