26 janvier 2021
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Elvira on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in her 92nd year at The Idlewyld Manor, after several years of Alzheimer’s. A devoted wife of the late Alberto for 62 years. Loving Mother to Gino, John (Mary) and Mario (Kathy) Tedesco. Proud Nonna of John, Christina, Mike (Christine), Jennifer (Dave), Matthew, Carly and Great-grandmother to Braydon, Carson, Landon, and Avery. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Mario (Marietta) Filice, Teresa (Giuseppe) Giordano, Adelina (Carmen) Pasqua, Domenico (Chiarina) Filice, Santo (Antonietta) Filice, and Pasqualina Filice. Survived by her brother Eugenio (the late Teresa) Filice. Forever remembered by her many nieces, nephews and close friends in Hamilton and Italy.
Elvira enjoyed her many trips to Cuba with her husband, spending plenty of time in the garden and the « Baka Yarda », along with her baking. Elvira spent her working days picking fruit, vegetables and tended to several nurseries in the Waterdown area.
During the course of her illness she stayed at The Carlisle Retirement residence, which took great care of her, then moved to The Idlewyld Manor for the remainder. A heart felt Thank You to Dr. Mark Grafham for the care and compassion during her illness, words cannot express how grateful we are of the excellent care she received while at the Idlewyld Manor, Spruceview, from the PSW’s, Nurses, RPN’s, RN’s, BSO support, social workers, assistants, even the maintenance staff, always made time to talk to her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society in Elvira’s memory.
Private family arrangements entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home, Hamilton.
