Carol was born on May 13, 1946, in Creston, B.C. and passed away peacefully with her “Guardian Angel”, Sandy by her side. Carol fought a long and courageous battle with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, but unfortunately succumbed to her illness on August 24, 2021, in Montrose, BC.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Emmeline Hainsworth, as well as her surrogate-father, John Harasin.
Carol will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Alan Underwood; her surrogate-mother, Edith Harasin; and her “Guardian Angels”, Bruce & Sandy Garrett. She is also survived by her cuddly cat, Chester, and her many Sorority Sisters.
Carol was a Home Economics Teacher at J.L. Crowe and Rossland Secondary School. After her retirement, she and Alan travelled the world together and she scrapbooked all their adventures of the many countries they visited. In her spare time, she volunteered with the Trail Stroke Club and later taught crafts to the residents at Mountainside Village in Fruitvale. Carol was also a member of the Pi Masters Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi since 1968.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 2:00pm at the Alternatives Chapel, 1298 Pine Ave, Trail. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
As an expression of sympathy, your donations made in Carol’s memory to the SPCA (124 Heritage Way, Castlegar) or Trail FAIR WINS Transition House (2079 Columbia Ave, Trail) would be greatly appreciated.
