Elizabeth Betty June Todd Sunday May 9th 2021 avis de deces

TODD, Elizabeth (Betty)
It is with upmost sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Betty) Todd (nee Clarke) in the early hours of May 9, 2021, in her 92nd year. A beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, in-law. She will be missed by her daughters Madrie Secord (Stephen), Liz Dinelle (Terry) and Judy Klinzmann (Michael). Her seven grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Steven, Rebecca, Corey, Helena and Adam have all lost an extraordinary grandmother.
Betty is predeceased by her mother and father, Jessie and Louis Clarke, and brothers Robert, and Gord Clarke. She was born in Toronto, July 2, 1929 and grew up in Oakville, Ontario. After her marriage in 1955, Betty and her late husband Herman moved to Hamilton, Ontario, and five years later settled in Etobicoke, where they raised their family and lived out their 55 years of marriage. Betty is survived by her youngest brother, Father Bill Clarke, SJ, who joined Madrie and Liz on Betty’s final journey.
Betty will be missed by countless friends and family, both here in Canada and in Bermuda, especially her sisters-in-law in Bermuda, Janet (Pinky) Todd and Thelma Hart, who shared in Betty’s difficult decline over the years.
Her loss came at a special time – Mother’s Day and Nurses Week. Betty enjoyed a wonderful, long career in nursing as a graduate of St. Joseph’s nursing program. Her ambitions led her to a nursing degree, then a Master in Education. She spent most of her career as a Nursing Professor for Humber College where she eventually retired. I’m sure her many students will remember her engaging lessons and dedication to compassionate patient care.
Betty loved entertaining, engaging conversation and as so many have had the pleasure of experiencing, was an amazing cook. She was a great storyteller, adventurous, loved being active and was an inspiration for all who crossed her path.
Betty and her late husband Herman enjoyed a great life together. They were dedicated parents, friends to so many and became avid sailors in their spare time. Betty’s final years were challenging but not without the love and support of so many friends and family.
To share a few thoughts from others:
“Up until Betty’s final years, she sure lived a wonderful life. So fun, funny, adventurous and so, so loved.”
Betty was “gentle, but powerful in her presence and advocacy.”
Let’s hope the pain of her departure will be soothed, over time, by many wonderful memories of her gentle nature and her daily acts of kindness towards others.
A heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful administrative staff, nurses and support workers at Post Inn Village, in Oakville over the last seven years, who lovingly ensured Betty received the care she so deserved, especially Angela Archer, Dr. Tziougras, Sachan Sareen and the entire nursing team at Linden Unit.
If desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Parkinson’s Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences at newediukfuneralhome.com
