Eleanor Jean Brown
It is with great sadness that
I announce the peaceful passing of my mother and best friend, Eleanor
Jean Brown (Langille) on January 25, 2021 at The Moncton Hospital
after a short illness at the age of 97.
She was the second oldest of
eleven children of the late Frank and Elsie (Brown) Langille, born
March 9, 1923.
Besides her daughter, Mary,
with whom she resided, she is survived by her sister, Dorothy
MacDonald of Enfield, NS; sister-in-law, Maureen McGeorge (Gordon) of
Moncton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by
childhood friends, Irene McGee and Marion
O’Brien.
Predeceased by her husband,
Ralph Brown (1989); infant son (1959); sisters, Ruth Carter, Frances
Ferdinand, Stella Langille (infancy), Irene McGinn and Phyllis Scott;
brothers, Freeman (infancy), Leaman, Fred and an infant
brother.
After World War II, Eleanor,
along with her sister, Fran, attended the Provincial Normal College in
Truro and received her Teacher’s Certificate in 1947. She
taught in several schools throughout Cumberland County. After
teaching, she was employed at the Income Tax Office in Halifax and
Blue Cross in Moncton. Finally, on February 16, 1957, she married her
childhood sweetheart. Most of her married life she was a caregiver for
her parents, as well as her in-laws, whom she
adored.
Her family would like to thank
the nurses and doctors at The Moncton Hospital for their exceptional
care of Mum. In particular, the Orthopedic and Palliative Care Units,
Doctors Hussain, Jee and Hudson.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions,
visitation and funeral will be held in the summer. Burial in Eagle
Hill Cemetery, Westchester, NS.
