Obituary
It is with such great, heavy sadness that we share that our beloved father, husband, Opa, and friend, Alex Meindertsma, passed away October 12, 2021 at the age of 68.
After a short, yet difficult battle with lung cancer- he passed in the company of family and surrounded by so much love.
He was predeceased by his father, Meindert Meindertsma; mother, Jane Meindertsma; 2 sisters, Bonita and Jenny and daughter, Jodi Whitham.
Alex will so lovingly be remembered and honoured by his loving wife, Judi Meindertsma of 46 years; his 5 children (both here and in heaven), Lisa (Bill), Darin (Lorna), Bob (Deirdre), Jodi – reunited in heaven (Paul) & April (Joel); Sister, Ruby (Eric) and his 17 grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, friends, cabin & church communities.
Alex was born in Jislum Freisland, Holland on February 1, 1953 and imigrated to Canada at a young age. He married his best friend’s sister, Judi, a long-time crush on Sept 27, 1975. They had 5 kids and lived happily in northwest Edmonton. Alex worked 35+ years at Inland Cement. He was a loyal, dedicated hard-working man. He then retired at 60 years old in Wabanum, Alberta where he and Judi built their “Happily ever after” home. Alex was known for always having an open welcoming house no matter where you came from or who you were. He loved spending time with his family and vacationing with his wife and friends.
