Obituary
It is with sadness the family of Duane Neil Molsberry announce his passing at Royal University Hospital on March 15, 2020 at the age of 68 years.
Duane was born at Rosetown Union Hospital on July 1, 1951, the youngest child of Harry and Ethel Molsberry. His doctor was called back from the races to deliver him. He loved the fact that his birthday was celebrated with fireworks every year.
Duane was raised on a farm south of Rosetown and lived there right to Grade 12. He went to work in Calgary after high school where he worked for about two years until coming back to Rosetown to help his Dad with the farm after his mother became ill with Rheumatoid Arthritis. He worked at Thompson Auto Supplies, Fort Ignition, Napa, Mainline Motors and finished his working years at Western Sales in Elrose. He semi-retired in 2016, after which he worked casual for Western Sales and then, the Rosetown Golf Course.
Duane married Ramona Barnesky on March 1, 1975 at Rosetown. Duane and Rome lived in and raised their family in Rosetown.
Duane totally enjoyed curling and was very competitive especially when he curled against Rome. He curled until his knees would not allow him to curl any longer. He loved gardening and was always sharing his garden produce with others, he also like to fish and golf as well as playing slo-pitch and darts. He was an avid sports fan for all his grandchildren and tried to get to as many events as possible. Duane and his partner Perry Dodge won the Legion provincial crib and went on to Nationals in Maple Ridge, BC. His garage had an open-door policy and his buddies were always dropping in for a visit and possibly a beer. Sometimes even when he wasn’t there. Duane and Rome enjoyed going on hot vacations either by themselves or going with friends, he loved cats and there was always a cat by his side. It was very upsetting to him when he had to say goodbye to them.
He was outgoing, loving and a hard worker. He was a silent care giver and helped people without expecting anything in return, he was Rome’s best friend and was always there to listen without judgment.
Duane was a member of the curling club, member and president of the Elks, member and president of the Legion, he was on the fire department for about 10 years as well as an assistant coach for Baseball for different groups.
Duane is survived by his wife Rome; son Blair and wife Jodie Molsberry; daughter Allyson and husband Darryl Gardner; grandchildren Taylor Molsberry and fiancé Landon Yaworski, Kyden Molsberry, Jordice Molsberry, Callum Molsberry and Thadeus Molsberry; grandcats Wickett and Nova; brother-in-law Gerald Sim; mother-in-law Emily Barnesky; brother-in-law Joaness Barnesky and partner Rhonda Zimmer and sister-in-law Melvanna Hokanson and husband Ian; nieces and nephews Trent and Jerilyn Sim and family, Penny and Aubrey Eaton and family, Lori and Darren Gasper and family, Steven Molsberry, David Molsberry and partner Jeanine Russell, Joanna, Johnathan, Nickolas and Tyler Barnesky and Candas and Zack Hokanson.
