Drynan, William Jeremiah ‘Billy’
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the unexpected and far too soon passing of our dear son Billy at home on July 4, 2021.
He is survived by his loving parents Kevin and Cheryl and his ever-adoring sister Jamie. He was predeceased by his doting grandparents Papa and Nany Oberding and Grandpa Bill and Noni Drynan.
At only 28 years old, Billy leaves a gaping hole in all of the so fortunate hearts he managed to touch while on his journey. Born in Toronto in Sept 1992, he shortly thereafter moved to Vancouver BC where he spent his early years as a happy go lucky, energetic, and compassionate young lad bouncing around North Vancouver and Whistler Mountain at a pace not for the faint of heart. Bill was always testing and pushing the limits before him.
In 2001, he returned to Ontario attending schools and Universities in Toronto, Collingwood, Haliburton, and Hamilton pursuing his relentless quest for knowledge and an understanding of the world around him.
He had a wild passion for books that started in his earliest years and never did this passion wane. Up until his last breath, he was a self-proclaimed disciple of Carl Sagan, often quoting him in trying to make sense for others the complex and abstract theories he loved discussing. He also loved his exotic plants, and any living being with 4 legs especially his cat Scrappy and family dog Emme who are also devastated by his passing.
His wit and intellect were exceptional. To those who knew him well he was a most interesting and intriguing character that possessed exemplary manners and a stratospheric level of EQ that he brought to each and every one of his interactions with others.
Despite his unique gift to bring love, laughter, and wonder to his family and friends; deep inside he was suffering in an indescribable darkness, privately battling an inexplicable pain. We take comfort in knowing that his last few months were spent so sweetly at his family home. We will strive to find peace in knowing that he is now without pain resting in God’s arms, and with the internal peace he couldn’t find while so briefly on Earth.
We know that he will forever be in our hearts and that with time, love and support, brighter days will prevail. “Thou Mayest” Pax Tecum dear boy.
There will be a private service and a Celebration of Billy’s life will be held at a later date when family and friends are able to gather safely.
As your expression of sympathy, donations to the University of Guelph Billy Drynan Memorial Bursary would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9 to whom arrangements have been entrusted. www.fergusonfuneralhomes.ca
