Dorothy passed away on the 20th day of February 2021 at the age of 84 years. She was a resident at Central Haven Special Care Home since July 2020 and passed away there.
Dorothy was born and Christened at the Holy Family Hospital in Prince Albert on January 11, 1937. She was the only daughter of Leon Zomcheck and Velma (Ward) Porter. They lived in Strong Pine, Saskatchewan. Dorothy’s early school years were spent as a boarder at Sion Academy in Prince Albert, and she moved to Sion in Saskatoon when Sion closed in P.A. in 1951. She later went to Robertson Business College and began work as a medical secretary for the next 38 years.
Dorothy was a loving, caring person and her wonderful smile will be remembered by everyone who knew her. We also remember her for her artistic talents, a wonderful picture painter, musician, etc.
On December 21, 1957 Dorothy married Neil Friesen and this marriage lasted 63 years. They had only one daughter, Shelly Leanne, who in turn gave them four special grandsons, Tyler, Tanner, Travis, and Tygan.
Surviving are her husband Neil, daughter Shelly and her four grandsons. Also surviving her is her sister Shirley (Harry) Ward and their five children Kathryn, Diana, Lisa, and twin brothers David and John.
She is also survived by her brother Douglas (Cindy) Porter and their children Kirk and Jennifer and her aunts Dorie Loden and Melba Saoch.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date if Covid will allow it.
