Dorothy Eleanor LeBlanc
1938-2021

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our
loving wife, mother, nanny and friend, Dorothy (Dot) Leblanc. Dot, at
82 years of age, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2021,
surrounded by her loving family. Dot was born and raised in Tignish,
PEI. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Gallant. She
married the love of her life, Normand in 1964 after their blind date
swept her off her feet. They have been happily married for 56
years.
After spending some years living in both Ontario and Quebec
as a military wife to Normand, they eventually settled in Cape Breton
in 1981. Dot loved and cherished her 4 children dearly, Kevin (Tracey)
of Sydney, Michelle of Sydney, Sherry (Doug) Caie of NL and Melissa
(Paul) King of Sydney. They were, in essence, her life. Throughout her
life, Dot worked on and off as a caregiver to the elderly and
physically/mentally challenged. Her warmth, kindness and compassion
allowed her to care for others with ease. Spending time with her
family was a source of great joy for Dot, especially the days spent on
the beach at Ben Eoin Campground. To say her grandchildren were her
world, is an understatement. Dot adored them with all her being and
they loved her back equally. She will be sadly missed by Karen
(Darren) Lowe and Alex LeBlanc, Danielle and Emily LeBlanc and Joel,
Sarah and Alicia King. Dot came from a large family of 12 siblings.
Dot will be remembered lovingly by her brother Edward Gallant, PEI and
sisters Judy (Sonny) McInnis, PEI, Marion Brooks, NB, Theresa
Arsenault, PEI and Fran Morehouse, NB as well as brother-in-law Paul
LeBlanc, PEI. She was predeceased by her siblings Alfred, Reggie,
Rita, Carmie, Irene and Thelma. Dot will also be missed by her many
nieces and nephews.
The family of Dot are extremely grateful to the staff of the
VON, EMS and Palliative Care with very special thanks being given to
Dr. Burns and Dr. Poulos. They have all allowed Dot to pass peacefully
at home with dignity and grace. Also thank you to Fr. Doug Murphy for
last rites and Anita LeBlanc for praying the rosary with
Dot.
There will be no visitation and due to COVID restrictions,
the funeral service will be private. Those wishing may attend
virtually by viewing the livestream on TW Curry’s Facebook
page starting on Monday, Mar. 1 at 11:00 a.m. Memories and condolences
may be shared with the family by visiting www.twcurry.com. In lieu of
flowers, donations in memory of Dot may be made to a charity of your
choice.
