Doris McCabe graduated to heaven on Sunday, June 27, 2021. She was reunited with her late husband Martin McCabe on what would have been their 68th wedding anniversary. Doris was born June 29, 1934 at her home near Otter Lake, Quebec. She was the seventh of nine children and at the age of thirteen she went to live with Wes and Florence Krause to help with their three daughters Eunice, Beryl, and Pauline who quickly became family. Through the Krause family she was introduced to Martin in 1950 at the Lakeshore Pentecostal Church Camp in Cobourg, Ontario. They immediately began a courtship and were wed in Shawville, Quebec in 1953. After moving to Sarnia, Ontario, Doris and Martin were faithful members of Bethel Pentecostal Church and she was very devoted to her faith and to her Lord. All who knew Doris could see the ripple effect her love had on those around her. She frequently welcomed new arrivals to Canada with open arms and a beautifully set table to gather around. She had the gift of hospitality and the kettle was always on. Loving mother of Gary (Sue) McCabe, Michele (Greg) Coleman, and Enno Kaasik. Cherished grandmother of Nathan (Jess), Jessie (Shaun), Ryan, Calista, and Celeste. Dear sister of Ida Stephens, Eunice Gaglardi (Ken), Beryl Heath (Fred) and Pauline McNutt (Stan). Predeceased by her parents Harry and Emily Mayhew and daughter Linda Kaasik. The family of Doris would like to recognize the special love and friendship of her close neighbours Tammy, Chris and Zachary. We would also like to extend a sincere expression of gratitude to every dedicated healthcare worker who was involved with Doris’s care over the years. Doris and Martin are both now resting peacefully together in the arms of their Lord and Saviour. Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid restrictions, a celebration of Doris’ life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bethel Pentecostal Church or St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques mailed to the funeral home or made online, please).
