Doris Chabot
(neé Larson)
1938 – 2021
Doris joined the Lord in heaven on November 10, 2021 at 83 years of age. Some of the last thoughts she shared were of how she knew God was with her and protected her and her family throughout her life. Her life was meaningful and blessed.
Doris was born in 1938 in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She was the second of five children. She was raised in Eaglesham, Alberta on her family’s farm. She married Tony Chabot in 1958 and he adored his “bluebird”. She raised their children, helped with grain farming, and enjoyed greeting people at the general store they owned for several years.
In late 1980s, they moved to Valleyview and lived on two different farms where she continued being a loyal farm wife and celebrated her 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She had various jobs but she always took great joy and was diligent in caretaking of the Rest Area and Provincial Building which were some of her favorite places to work. She was always a friendly face and had an open ear to anyone that was part of her life, at work, in the community and in her home.
A new chapter came when she moved to Shepherd’s Village in 2015 as Tony transitioned to long term care in Valleyview. She cherished every moment in this new home full of hand-chosen treasures and visits with special friends.
Some of Doris’ greatest delights were entertaining many friends and family in her homes and cooking amazing meals for them. She was always delivering some little meal, flowers or other blessing to people around her who she thought might use some encouragement. She enjoyed her flower gardens and a good cup of coffee.
Doris leaves many to cherish her memory. She has 2 children, Alan Chabot (Dorraine) and Karen Chenard (Pierre). Her grandchildren are Natalie Tonne (Trevor), Merinda Choma (Bob), Amy Wickins (Ron), Myles Chabot (Veronica), Kory Chenard (Krista), Jordan Chenard and Kelsey Chabot. Her great grandchildren are Emily, Eden, Kealan, Kaitlyn, Brighton, Zooey, Rileigh, Dexter and Paisley. Her sister is Diana Guglich (Lawrence). She was pre-deceased by her beloved parents, Selmer & Mabel Larson; her devoted husband of 60 years, Tony Chabot; her infant son Randy Chabot and her dear siblings, Glenn Larson, Phylis Gilomiec, and Joyce Sebastian.
A time of memorial to celebrate Doris will be held at a future date.
