Obituary of Doreen Poole
On the afternoon of April 6, 2021 mom got her angel wings. Mom was born in Drumheller and grew up on a farm near Morrin. She took her nursing training at Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, and worked there private duty nursing until marrying dad, Jack.
They both worked in Drumheller in the winter and farmed in the summer until our brother, Terry was born. Three girls were added to the family. Mom continued to nurse in Drumheller, and then Stettler, where they lived after selling the farm.
In 1989 they moved to Red Deer. After dad’s passing, mom volunteered at the Salvation Army Thrift store and continued to be an active member of the Parkland Baptist Community Church.
In 2016 she moved to the Linden Lodge, which was home until her passing. Thanks to the staff at the lodge for the very best of care of her, and the Three Hills Hospital staff for their excellent care in her final days.
Mom had a strong faith in God and daily walk with the Lord that she held fast to throughout her life. A tiny, feisty lady, she was example to all of us of a life of giving, loving and caring.
Mom is survived by her three daughters Mavis(Brian), Donna, Edith (Dwight), 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, her sister Jean, brother Don (Mary Ann), sister in-law Joyce and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who knew and loved her.
She is pre-deceased by her son and her husband.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doreen’s name to Samaritan’s Purse.
