Doreen Edwards
1942-2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing
of Doreen surrounded by her loved ones, on May 29,2021 in
Bridgewater,NS. Doreen was born January 30 1942 in Ship Harbour,NS to
the late Ruth (Hirtle) and Clement Laybolt. Doreen was the oldest of 9
children. Doreen eventually made her way to the
south shore with her husband, Ken. Making Bridgewater their home in
1972, Doreen was involved in many organizations and met many friends
along the way. From the CB club, Hockey clubs, the horse show scene,
politics, majorettes to bluegrass music or family gatherings, you
could always count on Doreen being there helping out. Doreen loved to
decorate and could craft anything she got her hands on. She loved to
cook and bake for her family and to entertain for friends.
Doreen will forever be missed by her loving husband
Ken Edwards, daughters Debbie Johnson, Tasha Edwards(Chester Bruhm)
and loving nanny to Brooke Shankle «Granddaughters: A beautiful
reflection of yesterday, a joyful promise of tomorrow.» Doreen is
survived by sisters Ethel Orchard, Joyce Yarn, brothers Clem Laybolt
and Earl Laybolt along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and
nephews. Doreen is predeceased by brothers Harvey, Gary, Eddy, Donald
and sister Susan.
The family would like to thank all nursing staff on the third
floor surgical and emergency at the South Shore Regional
Hospital for the care and compassion you have
showed our family during this difficult time. Any
donations may be made to the Shore Regional
Hospital. Arrangements have been made under the
direction of the R. A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. A celebration
of life will take place at a later date when we all can get together.
