SADLER, Dora
Died suddenly September 13th, 2021 at Joseph Brant Hospital with her daughters by her side. Predeceased by her cherished husband Arthur, his daughter Sherry (Jean-Pierre), sister Morag (Jock) and niece Carol. Remembered with love by immediate family, Heather, Ruth, Dylan (Molly) and Sheila (daughters Shirley, Brenda, Cindy and Pamela); the Scottish contingent of Jock, Jennifer (Allan) and Garry (Jackie) along with the Sadler family including Bonnie, Barry (Donna), Corey, and Colby. In her final years Ted held a special place in her heart. She will also be sadly missed by Paul, Robin, Jean-Pierre and Linda.
Dora was born in Inverness, Scotland on May 27th, 1938. She left home at 18 to move to Canada. In the 1970s Dora went back to school and started a new career as a Minister and a Chaplain at Joseph Brant. Following her retirement, Dora officiated at many happy weddings – including, to her delight, that of her grandson Dylan. She also gave solace to many, by helping to memorialize their loved ones in a way only Dora could. Dora married the love of her life, Arthur, in 1991. Together they made the most of their retirement years travelling the world, spending winters in Florida and making friends everywhere. Most recently, Dora stayed in touch by phone and email — even learning how to Zoom. She was also spent many happy hours with her daughters, crafting, cooking and taking day trips.
Visitation at Carlisle United Church, 1432 Centre Road, Carlisle (Hamilton), on Tuesday September 21st at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Service of Remembrance at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations to Carlisle U.C. Memorial Fund would honour Dora’s long-standing relationship with the United Church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, if you wish to attend the Service please confirm by email to secretary@carlisleuc.ca.
