Donald’s Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Donald Raymond Croucher, age 69, on November 21st, 2020, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was born in Buchans, Newfoundland on December 28th, 1950, and moved to Corner Brook at a young age where he attended school until graduating from Herdman Collegiate. From there, he enrolled at Memorial University in 1968 to complete a four-year Bachelor of Education degree. Upon completion, he taught school for a few years and then pursued a rewarding career with the Federal Government, beginning in Corner Brook, later transferring to Prince Edward Island and retiring in Summerside at the age of 55.
Don leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Marjorie (Parsons), of 46 years and beloved daughter, Beth, and her husband Brian (of Ireland/Ottawa); siblings Ada (Morgan Evans, Kay (Bill Janes), Jean (Norm Hodgson), Ron (Roz) and Glen (Darlene); brothers in law Melvin Parsons (Doreen), Eric Parsons (Linda) and sisters in law Claudine Hill (Lindsay) and Claudette Ingram; and, also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his much-adored parents, Raymond and Nellie Croucher.
Cremation took place in Halifax. A private memorial service will be held at Mount Patricia Cemetery columbarium on the 29th of October, 2021 at 2 pm with Dean Katherine Short officiating. Don was a truly gentle soul to the core, a humble man who loved fiercely but lived quietly. The following words ring true of him: “Some [people] are quiet in nature, their presence ever-serene…they may not have much to say, but their words are kind and pure…they are the ink to our pen, without them we couldn’t write…their flow brings our life to focus, through the years their aura imparts, blessing us with their lighted goodness, that moulds and forms our hearts.” Don, our “Dad”, will be forever missed, loved, and cherished.
