Donald’s Obituary
LUSK, Donald Morton – We know that you are all shocked and can’t believe that something finally took Donnie out, but here you have it. There will be records on file with the Province which can corroborate this claim shortly. Hobbies included holding up the bar in his favorite chair at the Time-Out for more then a decade. He also enjoyed his 30 years of employment at SeaKist Lobster so much that he started taking daily dips in the lobster tanks, so much so that they renamed the life preserver “The SS Lusk”. He also mastered the art of swearing while being splattered with grease while cooking his famous fish fries on many scallop draggers throughout the 70’s; in fact, he wove a tapestry of obscenities that still hangs over those potty-mouthed children of his. He leaves behind a hell of a lot of stuff that his wife and children have no idea what to do with. So, if you’re looking for car parts or maybe half a dozen circular saws, still in their boxes with the receipts attached, you should wait the appropriate amount of time and get in touch. But this is not an ad for a used parts store! This is an obituary for a great man, generous neighbor, committed husband and adoring father who was born on January 10 1952. Donnie was always offering-up gifts of used bicycles, kitchen tables, TVs and couches to those who struggled to furnish their homes or to single moms who looked like their kids could use a new toy or bike. Famous for saying, « One man’s junk is another man’s treasure, » there wasn’t a part, tool, piece of furniture or sports equipment he wouldn’t dig up for a neighbor or family member in need. Although Donnie’s family is a little angry about the heaps of « junk » he’s left behind for them to deal with, including the stacks of lawnmowers and the wrench sets in Christmas wrapping, it helps to remember the place of generosity for which these piles of stuff have accumulated, because Donnie wasn’t so much stocking-up for what he might need for himself, but rather for what others might need. Those needs filled his heart, mind and an entire barn and yard. And in those moments when someone would ask for a tool, part, or any kind of help, his face would light up and that junk would suddenly be transformed into treasure. He is sorely missed and survived by his wife, Queen Laura Lusk (Wilkinson); daughters, Princess Chellesey Lusk, Princess Angie Scott (Steven Scott), Laurie Parsons; a son, Prince John Parsons (Brandy Parsons); Cory Parsons (the redheaded step-child); grandchildren, Brooklynn (thinks she’s the queen), Cole (thinks he is the King), Mitch (thinks he is the Earl of 6 Pleasant St.) and Joshtyn (The Sorcerer), Kohen (Royal Guard) and Hayden (Court Jester), Ryan Melanson (he is his own person), Jessica (Duchess) and Alex (Duke). Also surviving are brothers, Larie Lusk (Emmaline), Brian « Bert » Cromwell (Melody), Gordie, “Ernie” Cromwell; sisters, Jennie Johnson, Carol Ogden (Gordie) Sheila Dunphy, Darby Robicheau (Sonny), Audrey Sears. And let’s not forget the 100,000 nieces and nephews who are all going to be offended that we didn’t name them all, but some how Kendra swindled her name in there! Following his wishes, there will only be a visitation on Saturday, April 17 2021 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Huskilsons Funeral Home, Yarmouth, but well-wishers are encouraged to write a note of farewell on a Budweiser beer can and drink it in his honor (just not at the funeral home!). Memorial donations may be made to The Aidaen Mae Fund, 487 Main Street, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia B5A 4P4.
