It is with great sorrow that our family announces the passing of Arlene Dickinson on Friday, April 9, 2021. After a courageous battle with cancer, Arlene passed away peacefully at home with her loving family at her side. Arlene is lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Larry; their two children — Amber (Wayne) and Travis (Selena); her two brothers — Daryl and Lyle (Leah); her two grandchildren — Jordan and Tanner; her adored puppy — Gracie; and her mother, Ruth McFarlane. Arlene was predeceased by her step-brother, Richard McFarlane, and her father, Irvine (Buck) Speers.
Arlene was a gentle spirit and compassionate woman who worked for causes that protected women and youths. A lover of nature, Arlene loved gardening, landscaping, and vacationing in the mountains. Though she struggled with ill-health for many years, Arlene always made herself available to her family in times of need. Her courage and sense of humour will be missed.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the palliative care teams at Strathcona Home Care, Edmonton Palliative Care Program, and Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital for their kindness and support during the final stages of her illness.
A celebration of life will be held after Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute.
