Died peacefully, October 15, 2021, at the Ottawa Hospital-Civic Campus at the age of 91. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 67 years, Gilbert and their three children, Lee (Earlene), Todd (Francine), and Linda; her grandson, Brandon, and her great grandchildren, Savannah and Granger. Her best friend and surrogate daughter, June Russell and her family, husband Bill, and children Tracy and Billy Joe, will also miss her presence in their lives. Denise was lucky enough to have an extended family of step-grandchildren, Rachel, Nancy and Jason, and great grandchildren, as well as many friends of the family who chose to call her “mom”. She was also much loved by her many nephews and nieces on both sides of the family. She is survived by her brothers Jean and Rodolph, and predeceased by her brothers Fernand and Yves; as well as her parents Hector and Emma (nee Guy) Villeneuve.
Born in Buckingham, Quebec, a tomboy sister to her two older and one younger brother, Denise taught herself English after her family moved to Ottawa when she was just 12. She met the man who would be her lifelong partner after a dare from a friend to call him and after 4 years of dating they tied the knot and spent the next 67 years raising a family, tending their home and offering love and support to all who came into their lives. Her greatest joy was helping her children grow and thrive.
Friends and family are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) Ottawa, on Wednesday, October 27th from 6-7pm. Due to Covid protocols, in person attendance is by RSVP and can be accessed below. The Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel and will immediately follow at 7pm.
