David’s Obituary
Scharf, David Michael – Passed away in the morning of April 27, 2021 at his home in Tatamagouche. David, better known as “Dave” was born April 9, 1953 in Sarnia, Ontario, a son of the late Willard Joseph and Hazel (Epps) Scharf. Dave had a long career of thirty-five years with the RCMP, retiring to his last posting of Tatamagouche in 2008. Dave took a keen interest in being involved in his children’s lives as a hockey coach, baseball coach, scout leader and much more. He was also an amazing “Papa” to his seven grandchildren and was always ready for them with fun activities like bike riding on the trail, nerf gun battles, water gun fights or spoiling them with ice cream. He loved baking, especially his much-loved pumpkin pies and sausage rolls, was a model train enthusiast, enjoyed camping, canoeing, curling, traveling and was a devoted fan of his beloved Maple Leafs. Dave was also involved in community activities by being a member of the Crime Stoppers Colchester Board, Tatamagouche Trails Association, North Shore Recreation Centre Board of Directors, and President of the North Shore Curling Association. Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Deborah (Oakes); his children, Jaime (Cory) Riley, and their children, Reinen and Asia; Holly (Tyson) Sinclair, and their children, Cash and Bodhi; Graham (Jamie) Scharf, and their children, Maya, Ronan and Jesse; sister, Brenda (Steve) Gordeau; brother, Philip (Joanne) Scharf; many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Due to the current public health restrictions, no visitation or funeral service will be held at this time but a time to celebrate Dave’s life will be announced when restrictions ease.
