David Weir MacPherson, husband, father, grandfather, loved by all dogs, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 13 at the age of 80.
Dave was born on August 8, 1941 in Ryder Lake, BC to Ursula and George MacPherson. He was the youngest of eight children, born on his father’s fiftieth birthday.
He grew up in Coquitlam and graduated from Como Lake Senior Secondary. He and Joyce Harkins married in 1964 and had two children, Dean and Sherie. Dave had many jobs, including construction worker, barber and real estate agent. After retiring from the City of Burnaby he and Joyce moved to Cache Creek, where there was time for golf, home improvements and making fairly drinkable home-brewed wine.
He was a skilled life-long golfer, winning or placing at most tournaments he entered after retirement. He enjoyed curling and early morning bank fishing on the Fraser River, and was a complete shark at cribbage.
Dave is pre-deceased by his parents, Ursula and George, brothers Alan, Ian, Douglas, Neil and sister Mary. He is survived by his wife Joyce, son Dean (Sally), daughter Sherie (Tim), granddaughters Ellis, Rachel and Matilda, sister Doris and brother Edwin. Dozens of nieces and nephews will also miss their Uncle Dave.
Immediate family will have a small celebration of life.
