David Jewell
1924-2021
On May 12 Dad went home to be reunited with his mom Annie
(Wilson) and dad Arthur Jewell. Dad was born on November 29
1924. He had one brother Stan (Jean) Jewell and two sisters Winnie
(Len) Crombie and a baby sister Jean who passed away as an
infant. Dad grew up doing what he loved, fishing, exploring
the river, and watching hockey. When the war started he
joined the Canadian Navy and proudly went overseas to help serve his
country. Serving on the Corvette HMCS Hespeler.
When the war ended he came back home and bought a home in Ayr where
his parents could live. That is where he met Joan Hallam.
The two were married in 1955 and his family expanded gaining a
sister-in-law Ellen (Alvin) Poll, brother-in-laws Reginald (Janice)
Hallam and Lance (Joan) Hallam. Mom and Dad bought a home
and started their family Robert Jewell, Catherine (Jim) Fleischhauer,
Gary (Susan) Jewell and Barbara (Gerry) Morton. In 1968 the
family bought a tent trailer and we travelled summers coast to coast
from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. Dad took us hiking, fishing,
and swimming. Creating lasting memories. Through
the years their family kept growing, 14 grandchildren David (Tammy)
Jewell, Paul Jewell, Brad (Marilyn) Jewell, Renee (John)
Strong, Bob (Courtney) Jewell, Jeremy (Rachael) Morton, Jenn (Shawn)
Claridge, Christopher Morton, Sherri (deceased)
Fleischhauer, Amanda (Spencer) Dale, Allison (Gus) Jewell, Sarah
Jewell, Ivan (Ashley) Biarozkin, Irina Berezkina
Great grandchildren Dorian, Hanna, Emily, Nico, Lydia, Liam, Grace,
Olivia, Hudson, Hailey, Pearson, Kyra, MacKenzie, Kel
Great-Great grandchildren Milo and Violet. Working hard all
his life, 56 years at Taylor Tool. Dad was a life long
member of St. Ambose Church. Delivering for the St. Vincent De Paul
until he was ninety. He was a proud member of
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 121. A celebration of
life will be held at a later date.
