David Alexander Simpson, 68, of Indian Point, Mahone Bay, passed away peacefully in the SSRH on October 2, 2021. Heather, his loving wife of 43 years, was by his side.
Born in Pictou Landing, David graduated from East Pictou Rural High in 1970. He furthered his education at Acadia University, while also working at Radio Acadia, meeting his future wife Heather, and earned his BSc in 1975. David joined the RCMP in 1977 and was stationed in Alberta (K Division) working in the communities of Valleyview, Didsbury, High Prairie and, finally, Calgary Passport and Immigration where he remained until his medical discharge in 1996. David made lifelong friends throughout both his Acadia days and the RCMP and corresponded with them all on a regular basis.
David was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Jean (MacLeod) Simpson, father-in-law, Ashton Hyson, numerous aunts and uncles, and his nephew, Cory Ranahan.
He is survived by his wife, Heather (Hyson) Simpson; two sisters, Donna (Bill) Ranahan, MacLellan’s Brook and Janna (Michael) Ward, Murray River; his mother-in-law, Viola Hyson, Indian Point; his aunt, Anna Simpson, Ontario; nieces and nephews, Patty, Shane, Earl, Martha, and Sean; and numerous cousins. Also left to mourn are his fur babies, Inky and Casey.
A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held at Indian Point Park cemetery on Sunday, October 10th at 1:00pm. Masks, social distancing and proof of both vaccinations are required to meet current Covid regulations.
