Maxwell, Daniel Balsor – 86, of Welchtown, formerly of the Hawk. It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Daniel was born on February 7, 1935 at the Hawk; he was the son of the late Murray and Alice (Townsend) Maxwell. He was the middle child with 4 older sisters and 4 younger sisters. He was a jack of all trades there wasn’t too much he couldn’t do or fix. Daniel was well known to many from his many years of service for Shelburne Furniture and Clarks Harbour Sales and Services, where he worked until he retired. He then made many wooden wheel barrows for his great-grandchildren and he donated many for dutch auctions. Daniel is survived by his wife of 67 years, Esther (Ross), his 7 children, Flora Brannen, Ira (Bobbi), Remona (Randy) Chetwynd, Bertha (Garvin) Atwood, Arthur (Lisa), Ernest, Kirt (Wanda) and son-in-law, Monty Smith; 17 grandchildren, Bobby-Dean, Sheldon, Justin, Mitchell, Danielle, Jessica, Alice, Ashley, Marion, Charity, Jeremy, Travis, Shannon, Suzanne, Katie, Matthew and Jason; 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Winnifred, Isabel, Bernice and Lynda; many nieces and nephews. His home was pretty full on Sundays, his birthday, father’s day and he especially loved when all the little ones visited. Besides his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his son, Danny Lewis in infancy, daughter, Sharon Faye Smith, daughter-in-law, Kathy, son-in-law, Stanley, sisters, Gloria, Regina, Enid, Mona, Florene and Claire in infancy, brothers, Ralph and Larry in infancy. Visitation will be held Monday, October 18, from 6-8 pm at the H.M. Huskilsons Funeral Home, Barrington. Due to Covid 19 restrictions proof of vaccination will be required to attend the visitation. A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, at 2:00 pm from Evergreen Cemetery, The Hawk with Jason Parker officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund or any charity of choice.
