Obituary for
Dale Eric Mertz
With sorrow the family of Dale Mertz announce his passing on May 25, 2021 at the age of 58 years.
Dale was born in Regina, Saskatchewan to Clarence and Marcie Mertz. Raised in Kamloops B.C, he made Edmonton, Alberta his home for the past 40 years.
Hidden under Dale’s rough exterior, was a brilliant sense of humour and a heart of gold. He shared his modest means completely and with love. He would have gladly given his family and friends the shirt off of his back. Dale’s true companions were his dogs, and his spare time found him fishing, hunting, working on his vehicles or fine woodworking.
He raised his Saskatchewan Roughriders flag high – showing great pride for his roots and how much he loved football, a passion he shared with his Dad and sister, Sandi. To ask Dale to stay with us would have been selfish; and so with heavy hearts we say goodbye. Rest In Peace, Dale, for you shall no longer be in pain, and you will be forever held closely and with love in our hearts.
As per Dale’s wishes, no funeral will take place. He will be laid to rest with his Dad and older brother, Wayne; near the old family farm in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
The family would like to thank all who have reached out during this transition. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) or to a charity of your choice.
