Cynthia Rosina Spencer passed away peacefully on 10th June 2021 after a long and debilitating illness.
Cynthia was born on 30th January 1937, of Welsh parentage, and grew up in Swanley, Kent, UK. She married Peter Spencer in 1959 and shortly afterwards they emigrated to Canada where they made their home, living for much of the time in Burlington. They were a devoted couple, ideally suited to each other. While Peter was employed by Air Canada, Cynthia worked as a P.A. in a firm of financial advisers where her abilities were highly valued.
Peter suffered from cancer in his later years, during which he was looked after with loving care by Cynthia until his death in 2008. This was of course a devastating blow for her and she never fully recovered from her loss. However, she bravely managed to build up a new life for herself and visited her family in England on a number of occasions.
Cynthia’s friends and family, both in Canada and the UK, will always think of her as the person she truly was, before the cruel affliction of dementia took its toll. Cynthia was a kind, loving and generous person, thoughtful and patient. Ever eager to give of her best, she created a stylish and comfortable home for herself and Peter, and she herself was always beautifully turned out, whatever the occasion. She will always be lovingly remembered by Robert Bolland and Barbara Newman (her nephew and niece) and by Vicky Phillips and Charles Newman (her great-niece and great-nephew).
