Smith, Colin Francis, 81, of Orchard Terrace, Antigonish and
formerly of West River Antigonish Co, died October
28th, 2021, in St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late William and
Julia (Cormier) Smith.
Colin was a welder having worked for Hawker Siddeley in
Trenton for over 30 years. In his early years, he was a painter in the
construction industry. He was the former president of the Antigonish
Salmon Association and was an avid sports fisherman. Colin also
enjoyed hunting, photography, belonged to the bird watching club, and
enjoyed nature in general. He also had a passion for playing guitar
and loved music.
He is survived by his wife Helen (Mason); a son, Shaun,
Antigonish; daughter, Tracy (Rick Palmer), NewMarket, Ont; sisters:
Isabelle (Lowell) Teasdale, West River, Rita Kelly, Halifax; Mary
Boyle, Antigonish; Catherine « Kitty » Culleton, Toronto;
brothers: Donald (Marina), West River; Bill (Linda), Antigonish, and
Terry (Bonnie), Bellville, Ontario. Many nieces and nephews whom he
adored.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Collette; brothers,
John Angus « Gussie » and Sandy; and brothers-in-law, John
Boyle and Danny Kelly.
Cremation has taken place. Public visitation in
C.L. Curry Funeral Home , 135 College Street, Antigonish on Monday
from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at
11:00 am in St Ninian Cathedral with Reverend Danny MacLennan
presiding. Burial at a later date in the parish
cemetery.
