It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Clare Galbraith of Wallaceburg in his 71st year at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Friday November 12th, 2021. First born son of the late Robert and Cleada Galbraith, eldest brother to Wayne Galbraith, Cathy Taylor, the late Sherry (Fred) Beecroft, Ed (Marie) Galbraith, Bert Galbraith, and Laurie Galbraith, and “Uncle Clare” to many nieces and nephews. Doting husband to Jill (Foster) and together they perfected the art of playful banter that can only come for a relationship that spanned over 46 years. Caring father to Jennifer Volkes and her husband Tom, and Koren Barry and her husband Rich. Immensely proud grandpa of Michael, Allie, and Jason. Clare also loved to spoil his little sidekick Liberty, as she would frequently be found on his lap enjoying his attention, or trying to steal it away from Koren’s puppy, Hudson. It was clear to see that everyone just wanted to be close to him, even his furry friends craved his admiration. Clare was a member of the Clover Leaf Gun Club and became an avid fan of YouTube, mainly focusing on BBQ techniques, trick shooting, and epic fail videos. He worked hard his whole life providing for his family. From working at factories, going to Fanshawe College for Auto-body Repair, before retiring from Speedy Glass in 2018. He had a booming belly laugh, kind eyes and a generous heart. He loved a good joke and loved his family most of all. An abundance of kindness and care was showered upon Clare (a.k.a. Clare-Bear), by all the staff at the Chatham-Kent Hospice. You made us all feel at home and safe from day one. Our family would also like to thank the CKHA, LHSC, and Windsor Regional Hospital- Ouellette Campus for their care and kindness. Thank you, Dad, for letting us love you then, now, and forever more.
At Clare’s request, cremation will take place. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday November 17th at 11:30 at Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. Arrangements entrusted to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington St West, Chatham, 519-352-2710. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. They are truly a Godsend for any family in end-of-life care.
