Obituary of Christine Alexandria Piccione
PICCIONE, CHRISTINE ALEXANDRIA (LIVINGSTONE) 1952 – 2021
Surrounded by her loving family, Christine lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the age of 68. Loving wife to Pat Piccione, amazing mother to Sarah Brown (Tattrie), Matthew Tattrie and Jonathan Tattrie. Beloved and devoted Granny to Myah and Grace Brown and Fur Granny to Ollie, Ruby, Rocky, Pippa and Frankie. The best mother-in-law to Devin Brown, Stephanie Henderson, and Anna Julia Ingham. Predeceased by her parents Alex and Nellie Livingstone, her sister Barbara Livingstone and best friend Pamela McFarland. She was a kind and loyal friend to so very many.
She was born on December 13, 1952, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Christine moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada at the age of 18. She married David Tattrie a few years later and moved to Brampton, Ontario where they raised their 3 children, creating many memories, before separating in 1995.
Christine spent 30 years working for Employment Canada in Brampton, where she made lifelong friends and was respected as a supervisor.
On March 20, 1999, she met a man at a single parent’s dance. They both said it was love at first sight. Pat proposed on May 15, 1999, and they married on January 22, 2000. They moved to Georgetown, Ontario in 2009, where she cherished spending time with her 2 granddaughters, watching them grow and being a part of their every day lives. Pat and Christine spent 21 years building a beautiful life together filled with travel, family, friendships, and love. They spent many holidays traveling back home to Belfast, visiting her relatives there. They built her forever happy place together, the family cottage in Bass Cove, Greater Napanee. The family has many treasured memories of their time spent together at the cottage surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbours at the Cove.
It would be wrong to say that Christine lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. Throughout it all she held on to her faith and positive energy. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. Meditating daily and seeking guidance through Reiki and her spiritual counsellor, Leigh Whiting. When anyone else would have broken, Christine stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like.
Pat and the family would like to thank everyone for all the generosity and love. We have been met with angels along this journey. From strangers to our remarkable and loving friends and family. She felt blessed for everything that she had and left this world with no regrets. She was a kind-hearted person who was loved by all who knew her. She made everyone feel important and always took the time to get to know someone and their story. She was very sincere and lots of fun. Always the first to get up and dance. Our dancing queen and brown eyed girl.
The family would also like to thank the oncology unit at Credit Valley (Dr. Feigenberg, Darlene and Danielle). The caring nurses from Napanee (Ann-Marie and Beverly) and her nurse (Laura) in Germany. Thank you to our number 1 nurse and neighbour, Sue Wright. Her friendship and care made it possible for Christine to spend the last few months at her cottage, receiving daily care from Sue. Thank you to her lifelong friends, Arlene, and Geraldine, for your continued support, as well as Jamie, Vera, and Margaret, who have been there for the family and Kathleen, Mitch and Maureen who she has many happy memories with. Thank you to our family at Bass Cove (Wendy (her soul sister), Marianne, Karen, Tabita, Sue, Liz, Cree, Steph, Susan, and Cathy and the boys). You organized celebrations, visits, food and check ins. You will always be part of « Team Christine ».
Celebration of Life on November 6th, 2021, at 1:00 at Norval United Church. Invitation only (due to Covid). Reception to follow. Details to follow. Christine’s Celebration of Life will be livestreamed. Christine is now safe in the arms of God.
