Charles Baker Charlie Wheeler Thursday January 7th 2021 avis de deces

Wheeler, Charles Baker (Chas, Charlie)
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Charlie at Fox Ridge Care Community, Brantford, on Thursday, January 7th, 2021 in his 85th year. We are forever grateful to the wonderful staff at Fox Ridge, for the care he received over the past 10 yrs. His daughters would also like thank their mother for her selfless and ongoing commitment to his care.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn (nee Parkinson) of 56 years; his three daughters Monica Meserve, Samantha D’Orazio and Heidi Wheeler; his three son in-laws Dave Meserve, Ian D’Orazio and Joel Fairlie; his five grandchildren Devon D’Orazio, Jared Meserve, Nicholas D’Orazio, Levi Fairlie and Oscar Fairlie; cousins in New York USA. Charlie is predeceased by his parents Harold and Helen Wheeler and his sister Linda Wheeler.
Charlie was born and raised in Paris, Ontario and moved to Brantford a few years after he married. He was a very community minded and social person with many circles of friends and work colleagues. As a young man Charlie was an avid race car enthusiast, and proud long-standing member of the Piston Pushers Car Club. Over the years, those close to him, heard many joyful stories reminiscing about cars and racing. There was always a proud display of trophies and photos of his dragster and the friends he made through racing.
Once living in Brantford Charlie pursued a successful career in Real Estate. He worked for P. J. Harvey Realties, then operated his own firm, Charles B. Wheeler Realties. He later franchised the business with Coldwell Banker and prior to retirement worked for Royal LePage Action Realty. During his career he was an active member of the Ontario Real Estate Association and was President of the Brantford Regional Real Estate Association in 1981 and 1982.
Charlie’s greatest enjoyment came from spending summers at the family cottage in Red Bay that was built by his parents in the late 1950s. Several Paris families had cottages close by and Charlie continued that sense of community by introducing to others the Red Bay experience. That lead to forging steadfast friendships with neighbours that continue to this day.
Charlie was devoted to keeping up on the local community news, and always had a stack of newspapers close at hand as he would read every one entirely. Favourite pastimes included playing cards, board games and puzzles. For many years he belonged to several friend and community Bridge groups, and he enjoyed teaching his daughters at an early age to play Euchre. Many summer evenings at the cottage you would find Charlie working on a puzzle at the dining table while enjoying a Rye and Coke and a sunset view of Red Bay.
Cremation has taken place and internment will be held at the Red Bay Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the SPCA would be appreciated. Online condolence and donations may be arranged through www.wmkippfuneralhome.com or by contacting Wm. Kipp at 519-442-3061
