Carleen Kerr 1949 2021

Obituary of Carleen Kerr
Carleen June Kerr (Green), passed peacefully on December 28, 2021 at Valley View Villa.
Born in Duparquet, Quebec, on March 21, 1949, to parents Carl and June (Hartling) Green and raised on McLellan’s Mtn.
Carleen is survived by husband Francis; her daughter Kelly Campbell (David Lennon); step-children, Darlene Smeltzer, Vickie Kerr, and Jimmy Kerr; grand children Raileigh, Spencer and Janelle; siblings, Butch Green (Katherine), Henry Green (of whom she was always so proud, she loved to hear him sing!), Scott Green (Darlene), Russell Green (Dena), Rollie Green (Debbie), Lorna Green, Charlie Green (Tracey), Pam Campbell, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carleen was predeceased by her parents, first husband John Kehoe, sister Mabel in 1977, infant sister Mary, and step-daughter Angela Kerr.
Mom loved to read and always said “you can learn anything if you can read”. If I ever dared say I was bored, she would tell me to go read a book. In 1992, she worked hard to obtain her GED attending evening classes while working as a construction flagger during the day. Over the years, Mom worked many different jobs; Trenton Legion, Claritone, Tim Horton’s, Westville Legion, and many other retail roles. Mom worked as a security guard for many years, working with Burns Security as local mall security in the 1990’s and retiring from her last post in 2014 after over 10 years working with security at Convergys with Northeastern Protection Service.
Mom was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 48 years and was an avid dart player. She proudly represented Normandy Branch #34 in many dart tournaments across the Maritimes over the years. She and her team mates even won the Ladies Provincial Dart Champions title once or twice. Win or lose, they always had a great time together. Mom and Ivy MacFarlane are probably playing a game together right now.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff of Valley View Villa for their compassionate care for Mom over the past 2 years. Mom was always well cared for and made comfortable at the Villa, their kindness and empathy will never be forgotten. Mom was kind and always tried to help others when she could. In her honour donations may be made to Valley View Villa to enhance funding for the residents activities.
Her funeral will be held 2 o’clock on Sunday, January 2, at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with Rev. Bonnie Langille officiating. Due to Covid there is limited seating and pre-registration is required to attend the service (scent free, please). Masks and proof of double vaccination are mandatory. The funeral will also be streamed to the public and may be watched by click on this link (link to be posted on Thursday).
