In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Strathearn United Church, the Edmonton Humane Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
Special Memories from Ida’s Grandchildren
Gran was a wonderful Grandmother who always greeted everyone with a kind hello, a bright smile, and a loving hug. She had an amazing life that was full of adventure, and she was a strong woman who is an inspiration to me. She always gave her all with everything she did, whether it was large or small. She had a witty sense of humour and was adored by many people who had the privilege of knowing her. The story of her life on earth is now finished, but the memory of her will live on forever. I will always treasure every moment I spent with her. She had a profound influence on my life and she’ll be greatly missed. I feel honored to be her grandchild.
Christmas at Grandma’s! The feeling of joy and warmth in her cozy home that she built with her husband and her father. She took so much pride in decorating to celebrate. She was a devoted Christian who always celebrated the special days with family. She was strong in her faith and comfortable with it. Sitting around at her dining room table, we had lots of laughs, and enjoyed listening to her reminisce about her childhood and her many travels. She lived her life with such passion. She always looked for the good in people. She was so happy when she became a great Grandma.
My Grandma was an incredible woman who lit up our lives. From making birthday cakes to Halloween costumes and sweet cards. She always made everyone around her feel so special. She could fix anything and taught me so much, while always being there to show support. Gram was the most positive person and offered the wisest advice. The best Gram in the world with the most beautiful smile. I know she will be listening to Chariots of Fire in heaven while watching her Oilers!
Grandma made Xmas at her house extra special for her grandkids. With unique gifts, treats, desserts, and lots of joy & love. I remember great times with her at the lake, including when a fishhook got caught in my scalp. I was on the dock not wearing a hat. I went to cast, the line swung, and the hook landed in the back of my head. Off to the hospital we went to get it out and get stitches, LoL. Grandma loved making costumes for me and her dog Shags to wear in the July 1st Tofield Animal Parade which as a young child, I always looked forward to.
Grandma was a very special person who always put her family, church, and country first. Her vibrant personality lit up a room especially when her Oilers were playing! Grandma will be remembered by the many people she touched with her caring personality. She was the Grandma that was a staple in her community and family.
Grandma loved Christmas time. I always knew I was going to Grandma’s for Christmas to eat a lovely meal that she would prepare and then we would open presents. She would always spoil everyone, especially her grandchildren with their lifesaver candies that we loved so much! Grandma would watch everyone open presents and then realized she had a mountain of presents to open. She would get upset and always wonder why she got so much, but it was because everyone loved her. When I was old enough, Grandma always knew I would watch her beloved dog Coco for her, when she went away on one of her many trips. I will cherish the days that Grandma took me and some of her other grandchildren to the cottage in the summer. We always had so much fun. When Grandma met my wife Marissa for the first time, she treated her just like she was one of her own grandchildren and that she had known her for a long time. I am glad my daughter Heidi got to meet Grandma, who always thought Heidi was so cute.
