Captain Mervin Sinclair

Peacefully with his family by his side, on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Mervin passed away at the age of 78.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Cheryl; children Mervin Jr. (Janet), Leah (Dennis), Denise, Vince, and Randi-Lee; sister Gail (Ron); sisters-in-law Darrall, Darlene and Karen; brothers-in-law Grant Settee (Angela) and Brian Morin; good friend Jeff Sanderson; grandchildren Clint, Neil, Tracey, D.J., Rochelle, Shanice, Ethan, Terrin, Crystal (Wayne), Alyssa and the twins Jordyn and Tristan; great-grandchildren Adam, Meliah, Waaseyaa, Kiara, Kashtyn, Rylan, Kira-Lee, Rayna, Ryker and Ryden.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ellen; sisters Annie, Eleanor, Evelyn and Judy; brothers Paulie, Cyril, Glen, Earl and Wally; in-laws Dale and Edith Settee, Walter and Pat Wozy; sister-in-law Danella Morin and good friend Henry “Spook” McDonald.
At a young age Merv started his career as a deck hand on the Bradbury, his love for the lake began. He received his Captain papers at age 23. In the 70’s he worked on the Paddlewheel boats and then started his career in dredging on the dredge 205 retiring in 1998. He then ended his career back on the Paddlewheel Queen and River Rouge at age 69.
Mervin was an active member of the legion No.42. He loved to travel to Mazaltan, go on casino trips, golfing and camping at Selkirk Park.
As Merv’s health declined he became a resident at Red River Place. The family would like to thank Dr. Lindenschmidt, nurses at Selkirk Regional Health Centre and all the staff at Red River Place, where Merv was greatly loved. Thank you so much for your care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk and may be viewed via: youtu.be/ICi5oKhdxTQ
