William Cameron « Cam » Lock, aged 78, of Saskatoon, SK. passed away peacefully April 30, 2021 in his home with his wife, Donna, by his side.
Cam is survived by his wife Donna, son Daryl (Kathy) of Sherwood Park, AB, daughters Maureen (Dave) Benallack of Saskatoon, SK and Rheann (Brian) Lucas of Sarnia, ON, brother Tom Lock of White Rock, B.C., grandchildren Trevor Lock (Megan) of Lethbridge, AB, Toshina (Barney) Schreiner of Sherwood Park, AB, Shalayne (Brice) Hendriks of Saskatoon, SK, Jordan (Kristin) Benallack of St Gregor, SK, Lisa Benallack (Cody) of Warman, SK and Braden and Kennedy Lucas of Sarnia, ON and great-grandchildren Keegan Benallack, Cadence Hendriks, Sierra and Jake Benallack, and Liam Schreiner.
Cam was born in Saskatoon on September 1st, 1942. He attended school in Margo, Archerwill and Saskatoon and obtained his Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan.
On June 29, 1963, Cam married Donna Lutz. He and Donna eventually settled in Gull Lake where Cam taught for the majority of his career as principal of the Gull Lake Elementary School.
When Cam retired in 1993, he and Donna embarked on many travel adventures. They wintered for numerous years in various hot locations in the United States, as well as taking other smaller holidays in Mexico, China and the Philippines.
Cam had a very strong sense of civic duty. His involvement in the Gull Lake community include: driving instructor, town councilor, and official of both minor and senior hockey. He served on the United Church board, Credit Union board and Library board. He drove school bus for 11 years, served as town coroner for 9 years and managed the Gull Lake swimming pool for 3 years.
One of his proudest accomplishments was establishing the town ambulance service. In its earliest days, the town ambulance was actually Cam’s personal vehicle. Over time, he worked towards upgrading his skills, becoming an EMT, all while developing the foundation of what is now the Gull Lake Ambulance Service.
Most important to Cam was his family and friends. He always relished those special gatherings.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Gull Lake Ambulance Service (Box 656, Gull Lake, SK S0N 1A0).
A Private Family Service will be held at Grace Westminster United Church in Saskatoon.
