It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Auger on July 5, 2021, in High River, AB. Brenda fought a long and difficult battle with cancer for more than 10 years. She exuded grace and strength throughout and will be mourned and deeply missed by her husband Denis; Father Bob, brother Brad (Marie); children, Ryan, and Elise; grandchildren Thomas and Emey; and all who loved her. Brenda is also survived by Denis’ family, brothers Mark (Farzaneh) and Louis (Carmie), brother-in-law Gary, as well as numerous extended family members. Brenda was predeceased by her mother Amelia and sister-in-law Celine.
Brenda was born on January 23, 1958, in Artland SK to Bob and Amelia Sawyer (nee Rzesnoski). She grew up in Carrot River SK, and Dauphin MB, with her sibling Brad. Brenda graduated high school in Dauphin and went on to study Dental Hygiene in at the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1978. She met Denis Auger in Calgary AB in 1980, and the two married on May 22, 1982. The couple had two children (Ryan and Elise) and lived in several places including Calgary AB, Dauphin MB, Edmonton AB, Corunna ON, Paris ON, Cincinnati OH, Villa Rica GA, Humble TX, and Houston TX.
Brenda’s career of choice may have been dental hygiene, but her passion was being a mother and grandmother. She was known for her big heart, her amazing hostess abilities, her fun-loving personality and fierce love and loyalty. She was an avid golfer, bunko player, curler, gardener and cook. Brenda loved to visit with friends, and facetime her family, especially her grandchildren (Thomas and Emey), and spread love any chance she got.
As per her wishes, Brenda’s family will hold a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crystal Shores Beach House in Okotoks AB, 403 Milligan Drive. Her family would like to thank the medical team at MD Anderson in Houston TX, as well as the palliative care team at the High River Hospital.
Brenda had a giving heart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brenda’s name to a charity of your choice.
