Obituary of Bonnie Huggard
Bonnie was born in Sus on May 5th, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Hourihan) Whitters and the wife of the late Neville Huggard who passed away on July 24th, 2014.
Bonnie graduated from Sus High School. She was employed at the Sus Save Easy and the Mercantile. On March 2, 1963, she married Neville Huggard whom she shared her life with for 51 years. They added their son James and daughter Sheila to their family in 1963 and 1966. Bonnie remained at home raising and nurturing their children.
Bonnie will be remembered as a kind, loving, and giving soul. She was a woman of enormous inner strength with a willingness to face the many health issues she had to overcome. Bonnie lived her life for others, never focusing on herself. She had a way of caring for people that was so very special. She was selfless, giving, and a true role model for those who loved her. She was gracious and thankful from beginning to end.
Family meant everything to her. Bonnie’s grandchildren brought great joy to her life and she treasured every moment that she spent with them. She was their biggest fan and rarely missed their many sporting events.
Besides her family, she had a few passions such as: her love of gardening, travel and sitting on the veranda chatting with friends. Bonnie’s veranda was the place to be. When you went for a visit, she made everyone feel welcome. Bonnie will be truly missed and lovingly remembered by those who loved her.
She will live on in the hearts of her children: Jim Huggard (Wendy) and Sheila Reid (Andrew); her brothers: Fred Whitters (Diane), Frank Whitters (Therese) and Ed Whitters (Dorie); her sister, Ann Sharp; her grandchildren: Nicholas Huggard and Jenna and Scott Reid; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Katherine Veronica “Bonnie” Huggard of Sus passed away at the Sus Health Center on March 23, 2021 at the age of 79. Neville and Bonnie are reunited and celebrating their love together again.
Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her brothers: Murray and John Whitters and by her sisters: Mary Doyle and Theresa Connors.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, (506-433-1176). A graveside service will be held from Kirk Hill Cemetery in the spring.
