March 17, 1935 –
November 30, 2021
On Tuesday November 30, 2021, in her 87th year, Birutė Teresa Alksnis passed away peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor Dennis Alksnis, and her parents, Marija and Antanas Levišauskas.
Birutė was a fiercely independent woman who was known for her sharp wit and humour, especially among her friends. She was intensely proud of her Lithuanian heritage, and valued family above all else. Her legacy includes her three children, Cindy (Gary), Christine (Serge) and Victor (Maria), five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, with another on the way. Birutė will be missed by her brother, Vytautas (Aldona) Levišauskas and sister-in-law, Adele Jushka (Antanas), as well as her many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother-in-law Peter Alksnis (Joann and Joan).
Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation at Church of the Resurrection, 1 Resurrection Road, Toronto, on Monday, December 6, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. John’s Lithuanian Cemetery (2185 Stavebank Road, Mississauga).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Church of the Resurrection.
