Beverley Dianna Travis 1943 2021 avis de deces

Beverley Dianna Travis
(Breen/Anderson)
It is with heavy, yet
grateful hearts that we share with you the news of the peaceful
passing of this loving wife, fearless mother, proud grandmother and
loyal friend. Bev left us the morning of December 13, 2021 at the Mira
Long Term Care Facility with those who loved her close
by.
She was the daughter
of the late Arthur and Gladys Elliott.
As a young woman, Bev
came to Truro from her home in Oxford and worked at the Royal
Pharmacy. She went on to meet and marry the first love of her life,
James Richard Anderson (Dick to those who knew him). At the age of 26,
she became a widow with a small child. Rising above all odds, Bev went
back to school at Success Business College and upon graduation started
her career as Reporter #10 at the Colchester County Branch of The
Credit Bureau of Canada. She made lifelong friends there, all of whom
will remember her well.
The next part of her
journey began when a young fellow in a hot rod Chevelle pulled in her
driveway out of the blue and asked her to go to the show. Despite her
resistance, he persisted and eventually she realized he would be the
only other love of her life….Gordon Travis. That movie date
led to a marriage that spanned nearly half a century and was as strong
on the day he had to let her go as the day he made her his wife and
became a father to her eight year old
daughter.
Bev loved and was very
proud of her large and colorful family and also of her humble
beginnings in Cumberland County. She never tired of telling you how
everything was bigger and better in Cumberland County!! This long
standing sentiment of hers applied to blueberries, snowfall amounts
and logs to name a few!
Over the course of
this amazing lady’s life, she had many passions. She
designed and carried out a large majority of the construction of her
family’s home in Hilden and took great pride in maintaining
that property. She knew her way around a hammer and a level! Bev had a
beautiful singing voice and was an accomplished guitarist. You could
often find her entertaining with family and friends. Her 50th birthday
was a weekend long music festival held at the family home. It was a
birthday celebration for the books that is for sure!
Bev had a way with
people. She touched the lives of so many individuals from all walks of
life. She was there to offer advice or a helping hand and always
rooted for the underdog. She loved animals and there is one particular
big, gray cat known as « Mitts » who is going to be very happy
to see her.
Her other huge passion
was cars. Big, red, clean-as-whistle and better be a Chevy. The faster
they were…the more she liked them! She owned a string of
them over her lifetime.
There are many who
have gone before her to break trail for the last part of her journey.
Her parents and first husband; her brothers, Bud, Jack, David, Donald
and Hughie; her sisters, Evelyn and Nettie. They have all been
patiently holding a seat for her at their table.
For those left behind,
her husband, Gordon; her sister, Ruth Delaney (Reg), her daughter,
Sharalee Lynne Anderson; her grandson, Dylan James Roode and her great
grandson, Tucker Ivan James Roode. Please know this:
Beverley’s strength, courage, and the wisdom she shared will
get them through until they see her again.
In closing,
Beverley’s family would like to acknowledge all the staff at
the Mira. The respectful and compassionate care given to this graceful
woman and her loved ones will never be forgotten. To all who travel
the halls of the Mira in the morning, in the afternoon and in the
night….we have seen your wings and thank God for your
presence.
As per family request
there shall be no visitation of funeral service. Cremation has taken
place and there shall be a private family burial at a later date.
Please feel free to honor Bev’s memory in the form of a
donation to The Middle Stewiacke Cemetery, The Recreation Department
at the Mira Long Term Care Facility, or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home. 55
