Obituary
With appreciation for a life well lived, the family of Marion Elizabeth “Betty” Ferris, announce her peaceful passing on Friday May 7, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Betty was born in Saint John on October 26, 1922; the daughter of the late Andrew and Ethel May (Noddin) Craft and loving wife of 54 years to the late Lawrence Douglas Ferris.
Betty was a home maker for many years until she went to work at Calps, the Dr. Roberts Hospital School and Rocmaura. She enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, bingo and the occasional scratch card. Betty was known for her sharp wit and determination and was never afraid to offer her advice or opinion. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Eastern Star and the Orange Lodge.
She will be deeply missed by her sons Lawrence (Catherine), Kenneth, William (Mildred), Maurice (Jacqueline), Robert (Wendy); daughters Carol Ferris, Helen Wallace and Darlene Waddell; 25 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Phillip and siblings Vivian, Helen, Daryl and Robert; sons-in-law Norman and Clyde and daughter-in-law Judy.
The family would like to thank the staff of Level 2 Loch Lomond Villa as well as the nurses and staff of Palliative Care for the exceptional care and compassion given to Betty.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland on Tuesday May 11, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A private family service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at 1p.m. for invited guests only. For those unable to attend, a link to view the service will be available here on our website Wednesday morning. Interment will be held in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Betty may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
