Obituary
BENSON, Betty Ella, RN – January 17, 1942 – May 15, 2020. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Betty Ella Benson announce her passing at Pleasant View Towers on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the age of 78 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Roy of 57 years; her children Karen, Roy (Ann) and David (Carol Martin -Rice); her daughter-in-law: Lynn (Greg) Pike; grandchildren: Roy, Angela, Daniel, Eli, Allison, Lauren and Maria; her siblings: Edward (Ella) Howell, Bernice Mullett and Marilyn (Derick) Temple; sisters-in-laws: Sylvia (Doug) Phelan, June Benson, Rolande Benson and Mildred Howell and brother-in-law Joe Benson. Plus, a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including her life long nursing friends from the Grace General Hospital. Betty was predeceased by her parents Henry and Maisie Howell, her precious son Rodney; son-in-law Eric Cormier; sister Nina Howell; brothers: Howard, Ralph and David Howell; her parents-in-law: William and Anastasia Benson; brothers-in-laws: Harvey, William and Leslie and sisters-in-laws: Olga and Ethel Benson. A special thank you to all the staff of 2NW Pleasant View Towers, especially Mary, Jessica, Bobbi, Ashley, Flo and Deanne for the excellent care provided to Betty for the past 10 months and to Vicki Doyle for her professional guidance and support to the family. At Betty’s request cremation has taken place. Memorial service to be held from Barrett’s Chapel, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
