Obituary
Betty passed away peacefully on July 10, 2021 at Ridgewood Lodge in Princeton.
Betty was born in Chilliwack on April 26, 1929 to Clifford and Pearl Clarke. Betty’s early years were spent at Harrison Lake, where she developed a lifetime love of nature and the outdoors. She married the love of her life in 1948. She and Bob began their married life on a small ranch outside of Princeton, returning to Chilliwack from time to time to earn money to support their ranching dreams. Their two sons grew up on the ranch and Betty’s parents joined them when they retired. Bob continued to work in the logging industry and Betty handled the bulk of the ranching duties along with the boys and Nan and Grandad.
Betty got the boys to school by driving the school bus (her VW van) for many years. She was also an active member of the Women’s Institute, the Canadian Galloway Association and a skilled artist. She loved to travel and was able to entice Bob to join her on several occasions. She and Bob were always eager to try new adventures and gathered many life-long friends along the way.
The ranch was a lovely setting for many family gatherings, as there were many nieces and nephews eager to sample ranch life. And then came the grandchildren, who all loved time spent on the ranch with Bump and Gram. And then the great grandchildren, although by then the ranch was no longer home, but there were always fun times to be had and so much love. They were also blessed to see the arrival of great-great grandchildren. They were happiest when surrounded by family.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Bob in 2020, her son Clarke in 2015, and her great-grandson AJ in 2020. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Noppe, her son Cliff (Lynn), grandchildren Wade (Krista), Tanya (Derrick), Jason (Monica), Jeff (Heide), Jillian (David), Justine (Sean); great grandchildren Bethany, BreeLynn, Ty, Amy, Mari, Jaelum, Quest, Liberty, Wolfgang, Justice, Autumn, Jadon, Carson, Chase; and great-great grandchildren Jack, Lindy and Daisy. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Pat Pelly and Mildred Keith, her cousin Marge Haig and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is most appreciative of the care Betty received while at Vermilion Court and Ridgewood Lodge. It was exemplary.
