April 4, 1932 – March 31, 2021
It is with great sorrow that the family announces his passing in Sudbury on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in his 89th year. Son of the late Phillipe and late Alice (née Crousette) Gagnon. Beloved husband of 66 years to Berthe (née Fournier) Gagnon. Loving father of Richard Gagnon (Yordanka), Monique St-Martin (Gilles), Nicole Mercier and Gilles Gagnon. Cherished grandfather of Yves, Céline, Christine and Stéphanie. Great-grandfather of Lena, Ivan, Luxe and Théo. Predeceased by his siblings Margo Parent (late Henri), Gaby Jaworski (late John), Raymonde Lépine, Paula Morin (Normand), Cecile Petit (late Marcel) and Bernard Gagnon. Brother-in-law to Lorraine Pepin (Rudy), Raymonde Fournier, Madeleine Fournier (Claude), Norm Fournier (Patsy), predeceased Leo Fournier (Mary), Charlie Fournier (Therèse), Helène Fournier (Raoul), Marge Chartrand (Paul), Georgette Hall, Sylvia Gagnon (Gaëtan) and Diane Fournier. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Raymonde Fournier for her continued support. Bertrand worked at Inco for 17 years and then became self-employed as the owner and founder of Kathleen Wash and Dry. In retirement, he found both joy and purpose working on ingenious projects improving his home and the everyday lives of his cherished family and friends. Of these projects, he will most fondly be remembered for the welcoming and loving place he built on Manitoulin Island. Due to the current restrictions on gatherings, visitation and service to be held at a later date. Donations can be made by cheque or online to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
