Bertha Lucetta Gilliss
1929-2021
Bertha Lucetta Gilliss, wife of the late Bartlett Gilliss, peacefully passed away at her home with family by her side, on the morning of January 11th, 2021, at the age of 91.
Born in O’Leary, Prince Edward Island, on June 23, 1929, Lucetta was the daughter of the late George and Harriette (MacDowell) MacPherson. She was a loving Mother and Homemaker. Lucetta was also a member of the Carmel United Church, a member of the UCW and was previously involved with the Miramichi Association of Children with Learning Disabilities.
She is survived by her daughter, Chris McLenaghan (Robert) of Napan, two sons: Allison (Christina) Gilliss, and Bartlett Gilliss, both of Napan; sister: Evelyn Oickle of Osgoode, ON; four grandchildren: Allison, Tina, Bobbi, and Christopher; five great-grandchildren: Mandy, Courtney, Brooklyn, Jack and Emma. She is also survived by nine great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Bartlett; son, Sandy; daughter, Judith; brothers: Earl, Daniel, Leslie, and George; sisters: Sadie, Emma and Grace.
A PUBLIC visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. A PRIVATE funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 at 2 PM at the Carmel United Church, Napan, NB, conducted by The Reverend David Allan. As per COVID-19 government regulations, masks must be continuously worn both inside and outside at the funeral home and church, and physical distancing must be strictly adhered to. All visitors must be signed in upon entrance to the facilities. A maximum of 25 people total may be allowed in the facilities at one time. Compliance and patience with governmental rules are appreciated in advance. Interment will be held at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Carmel United Church or the Pine Grove Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
