Mr. Barry Anderson, age 75, of
Maccan, NS passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Cumberland
Regional Health Care Centre.
He was born in New Glasgow, NS, he was the son of the late
Henry and Catherine (MacGillivray) Anderson.
Barry will be remembered fondly by many people through
memories of a life well lived. He was career teacher, a baseball
coach, figure skating dad, active member of the Catholic Church in
Amherst, proud StFX alumnus and later in life a traveller, tutor, and
provincial/national baseball board member. He also achieved a red belt
in TaeKwon-doe at the age of 75.
He will be dearly missed by his children Jeremiah (Julia)
Anderson, Lower Sackville; Rebecca (Alan) Baker, River Hebert;
grandsons Keegan, Callum, Owen, Mac and Brennan; step-granddaughters
Jasmine and Madison; his mother-in-law Gwen McCormick, Maccan; his
brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many nieces
and nephews.
Besides his parents, Barry was predeceased by the love of his
life Margo (McCormick) Anderson and father-in-law Stan
McCormick.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
Street, Amherst (902-667-8777). Per Barry’s request there
will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October
8th at 11am at the Holy Family Catholic Church
in Amherst with Father Charles Offor presiding followed by internment
in the Maccan Cemetery.
Those wishing to attend must be able to
provide proof of double vaccination for Covid-19 as well as government
issued ID at the door. Masks are still required.
Those wishing to make a donation in Barry’s memory
may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society, the School Breakfast Grab
and Go River Hebert District School, or the charity of their
choice.
